Description
This LP is fantastic.
It's on the UK Columbia label and is by The Yardbirds. It's entitled 'Five Live Yardbirds' and was released in 1964. It was recorded live at the Marquee Club, London and the sound engineer was Philip Wood. The Lp was produced by Giorgio Gomelsky. The music encompasses blues, beat and early psych influences and features Keith Relf, Paul Samwell-Smith, Chris Dreja, Jim McCarty and Eric 'Slowhand' Clapton.
It's a mono recording and the catalogue number is 33SX 1677. It's pressed on the original blue/black UK Columbia label.
OUTER SLEEVE - The flipback sleeve which is laminated on the front is in fine condition with some minor wear, ring wear and creasing but is, otherwise in great condition. The rear of the sleeve shows some discolouration and slight marking and wear but, considering the album is 44 years old it's in outstanding condition, in my view. The flipbacks are not damaged in any way but I think they've been cleaned up. It states in the top right hand rear corner '33SX 1711 RS'. There is some minor blue ballpen writing in the top right hand corner. It states in the bottom right hand rear corner '6412 Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents pending 33SX 1677'. The edges and spine are in superb condition with minor wear and creasing. The wording along the spine is 90% readable. I've graded the sleeve Ex--.
INNER BAG - This is an original polythene lined die cut paper type.
RECORD - The record is in fine condition considering its age. It appears to have been played quite a few times. There are some superficial marks on each side throughout but these don't affect the playing quality of the record. It plays through really well on both sides with some minor surface noise and one or two pops and clicks on both sides. There are no jumps on any of the tracks on either side.
LABELS - The labels are black with the blue and black Columbia music note logo at the top and the word 'COLUMBIA' in blue. The wording is silver in colour. It states 'SOLD IN THE UK SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS`. On the left side of each label the matrix numbers (XAX 2725 on side one and XAX 2726 on side two) are printed. There are spindle marks on both sides around the hole and the record has been well played. The labels are in fine condition with no damage. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - XAX 2725-1N (stampers 1 GG) - side two - XAX 2726-1N (stampers 1 M). I've graded the record as Ex which I believe is very fair.
I try to grade everything very conservatively and I believe that the winner of this auction will not be disappointed. I guarantee everything I sell. It will be difficult to find this record again.
THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS ITEM.
