This is a decent, still desirable copy of a most rare Jazz collectable, the four-record album-styled, limited edition set (#1214/1384) entitled The Astaire Story (Mercury MG C-1001/4), which put singer-dancer Fred Astaire into the recording studio with a gang of top jazzmen led by Oscar Peterson to see where their mutual inspration would lead. The resulting 38 tracks--mostly Jazz versions of great standards associated with Astaire--were pressed on four blue-vinyl records with special labels and issued in a suspension-styled oversize album in red cloth (with dancer decoration) augmented by interesting notes on pebbled paper, color and b&w photographs (by Gjon Mili) on magazine-slick paper, and a pochoir with portfolio of drawings by collectable Jazz artist David Stone Martin. His signature initials appear on one drawing, and Astaire himself numbered and signed all copies. This particular copy has good records, a good outer album. Signed.
