Description
The MILLS' BLUE RHYTHM BAND (as "Earl Jackson and his Orch.") are practically on fire, with the forward momentum of a runaway locomotive, with their blazing hot, unique rendition of "FUTURISTIC JUNGLEISM."
I often substitute it for coffee in the morning, so stimulating it is. With sizzling solos by SHELTON HEMPHILL (trumpet), HARRY WHITE (trombone and the composer) and CASTOR McCORD (tenor sax), plus a hurtling, headlong scat vocal by GEORGE MORTON, this record will repletely satisfy again and again! It NEVER gets old.
I have had an never-ending crush for "Futuristic Jungleism" (the title alone is inspired!) since I first heard it on the Columbia 3-LP set, "The Sound of Harlem," in 1969.
"LOW DOWN ON THE BAYOU," on the flip side, is almost as satisfying, which is to say it will SEND you. Nat Leslie composed it.
This original 1931 brown-wax Perfect 15505 is in very solid V+ condition. Some scratches and a little damage, but nothing that should mar your enjoyment.
*****
These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
