It is with some sadness fueled by the Covid unemployment that I choose to part with this great piece of audio history, but extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. I have hardly ever seen reels for sale, so this may be the only time you see this Frank Zappa reel for a long time to come.
This is the extraordinary opportunity to own the original tape of Hot Rats, hot on the heels of the 50th Anniversary release of Hot Rats Sessions in honor of this original work that is astonishingly now, 52 years old. The tape still sounds amazing.
It will be shipped and packed with extra box around the tape box itself with very secure padding and protection. It will ship insured.
Box has some slight storage stain but absolutely not bad for being 52 years old. There are no cracks or chips in the plastic reel. There are a couple of usage, superficial scratches on the reel but nothing deep or broken.
I wanted to make sure the tape quality was as good as I expect (which is a lot) but I no longer have a system setup that was good enough so I took it to 621 Production Studios in Apex, NC for their professional assessment. They verified that the tape is in great condition and I wish everyone could have heard this tape playing on THEIR studio setup. Outstanding.
