Hello – I’m new to ebay record selling (although I have sold the occasional non-music item). I am however an avid record collector (of all genres) who now feels the need to sell some vinyl to make space. So there will be several gems making their way onto these pages over the next few months.

I’m starting with this very rare UK first pressing 1971 ‘progressive folk’ album. To be honest I don’t like it and it has languished at the back of my record collection for 37 years. Exploring Popsike and the like, I see however that it is ‘much sought after’ and 'highly collectible'. As far as I can recall the record itself has only been played twice – once in 1971, after which I decided I’d made a mistaken impulse buy, and now to check its condition.

However apparently it’s much liked by those who have a penchant for “male and female vocals with complex whimsical arrangements with cello and violins etc….. this is a rare slice of progressive folk in a similar style to Principle Edwards Magic Theatre and Momus… Very cool”

So, in the interests of finding it a good home where it will be appreciated (and in providing some cash so I can buy other records that I will play – has anybody got the original Home Grown by Andy Roberts on RCA?) here goes…

It’s in an unlaminated EJ Day sleeve with surface texturing which makes it very delicate. Very fresh looking, sturdy, no fading and no tears or rips. However the edges, while all intact, have rubbed and there is some ringwear visible at the front and back (see pictures). But apart from that it is Excellent. So I suppose overall it’s EX-.

No spindle marks, labels or markings. Effectively Mint but as it has been played - NEAR MINT

Vinyl:

Looks brand new and plays without scratches, clicks or jumps. Sounds new - NEAR MINT.

So all in all a significant opportunity to acquire a very rare highly collectible album in a condition that you'd find hard to better. However – as I have bought albums myself on ebay only to feel somewhat misled by the gradings – if you buy it, and feel misled by anything I’ve said above, I’ll offer a full refund (excl p&p).
