GENESIS: Live at LEICESTER 1973 TEST PRESS ONLY DUTCH PHILIPS 2LP VG Prog Rock

Rare Dutch only 2LP Test pressing released in 1973. Cat Numbers are: 6830.140.1/ 6830.140.2/ 6830.141.1/ 6360.141.2.
How did this extremely rare Dutch only Test pressing make it's way to Australia? Found in the cover of a New Zealand version of the Genesis live album, (I have listed pictures of the cover it was found in), as part of a collection bought from an English gentlemen in Sydney some years ago, found in a crate with mostly other Genesis titles.  Sorting through the titles the albums were pulled out and the realisation that a real vinyl rarity had been discovered...Not only a huge Genesis Rarity but also for Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins fans...
It is well known; that when the Genesis live album was finally released in 1973 it was a single LP. It was also amazing that the best and most ambitious track "supper 's ready" was not included. For many years rumours sufaced, that a double lp version was leaked as a test pressing on the Dutch Philips label. However none had ever been seen and were almost impossible to find.

The test pressings have 4 sides with handwritten labels, but no album cover. Since they were done by hand, each label is a little different. the matrix numers on the vinyl are AA6830 140 1Y 1 670 1/ AA 6830 140 2Y 670 1/ AA 6830 1Y 1 670 1/ AA 6830 141 2Y 670 1.

On the included cue sheet the sides are referred to as 6830.140.1/2 and 6830.141.1/2. The cue sheets also show that all tracks were recorded in Leicester on Feb 25th 1973, except "Return of the Giant Hogweed", which was recorded in Manchester in february 24th 1973. These test pressings are the single most valuable and sought after Genesis record. At best only between 8-15 of this rare 2LP have ever surfaced. I have seen that only 7 copies have sochanged hands since 2014!!

Recorded at: DeMontford Hall, Leicester, 25th February 1973, except The Return Of The Giant Hogweed: Free Trade Hall, Manchester, 24th February 1973.

Line-up: Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Mike Rutherford.

Tracks : Watcher of the skies/ The musical box/ Get 'em out by Friday/ Suppers ready/ The return of the giant hogweed/ The knife.
Labels are nice and clean with little sign of spindle wear.
Record 1 side one : Record has scuff marks and very light scratches, run in groove and organ intro has some crackles and a few light pops, there are some light crackles and pops during quiet sections of second track, Side one plays in VG+ condition.
Record 1 Side Two : Record has scuff marks and very light scratches, run in groove and intro banter has some crackles and pops over it, there are some crackles during middle quiet section, Side two plays in VG+ condition.
Record 2 Side One : Record has scuff marks and scratches, Intro and talking at start of side has crackles and some pops running right up to start of song (about 2 minutes), there are light crackles in parts of the first few minutes of track, there is a scratch that cause some clicks about of a third of the way through the track than comes and goes (depending on level of music) for around 4.30 minutes, also some other light light clicks in quite flute section that run for around 1:40 minutes, also light surface noise in fade out. Side Three plays in VG condition.
Record 2 Side Two : Record has scuff marks and light scratches, Fade in and intro have some light crackles, there are a few light crackles and pops just before solo in first track.
