GENESIS The Lamb Lies Down Broadway UK 1st Press 2LP
Genesis The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. Classic 1974 UK LP CGS 101 Stereo.
This is a real gem. I’m offering a totally original UK first pressing of this LP complete with the extremely rare red competition inner only placed inside the very first run of this LP. The competition inner is particular to this LP because the catalogue number CGS 101 was stamped on all copies of the inner in the bottom right hand corner – see photos. The LP was issued in Nov 1974 and the inner states that the competition closes on 1.1.75 so those buying this LP would have had to hurry to submit it on time! The record has the matrix codes 1 A-2U ; 1 B-2U ; 2 A-2U ; 2 B-2U importantly with the Marketed By B&C Records credit on the Label, which came before the later Manufactured and Distributed Credit. Totally original and in superb condition.
Condition: Gradings are per standard UK Record Collector guidelines.
Outer Sleeve: EX
The condition of the sleeve is excellent overall, this sleeve is typically found with ring wear and dirty marks due to its pale colour, but this one has been cared for well and on the exterior only has very minor wear, it is one the cleanest examples I has seen and this is hopefully evident in the photo’s . Externally the sleeve is probably rated as EX+. The inside of the gatefold has some foxing which is visible in a couple of areas hence an overall grading of EX. Sleeve manufactured by Bruin BV and this is an important trait of original UK pressings.
Record Inners: EX (with foxing)
Heavy duty card inners which are in really good shape, however there is quite a lot of foxing on both of the inners. These card inners seem particular prone to foxing as this is very common on this LP.
Record Labels: Near Mint
Records: EX/ EX
Lovely condition vinyl which has just a few hairline marks across the LP surfaces which are just visible when held to strong halogen light, but nothing of real note and I suspect just wear from careful playing of the records. They are nice condition examples for an LP of 36 year vintage.
Competition Inner: Mint. Stunning condition. No creases and in perfect unmarked condition.
Overall a lovely original copy of The Lamb in excellent condition and complete with extremely rare competition inner.
I use quality packaging materials and only mail LP’s in cruciform mailers thus my postage costs reflect use of this more expensive materials.
