Feelings / PROMO advance
The Grassroots may have started out as a studio group but it wasn't long before a group called The Bedouins was recruited by P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri to take over the role and re-cut the vocals for their debut single. A 'real' Grassroots didn't exist in 1966, and the original band recruited quit. A new LA candidate band was the 13th Floor and they stepped in for their first record in the role with "Let's Live For Today."
This DJ advance is from June of 1968, and features their new song “Feelings.” This IS NOT the overwrought ballad that Morris Albert hit with in 1975. It never made the charts, not even the top 100. This IS the freakbeat - fuzz filled song that we somehow missed out on back then. While this single wasn’t a hit… and that was likely quite a disappointment, they soon followed it with “Midnight Confessions,” a tune that would become one of those career-defining moments.
On the flip you’ll hear ‘Here’s Where You Belong,” which is a Sloan – Barri tune.
