George Harrison Wonderwall Music Mid 70s Reissue LP UK Import OG Inner VG+/VG+.
For auction is a great listeners copy of Wonderwall Music by British singer, songwriter and Beatles guitarist, George Harrison. His first solo project released in early November 1968 a few weeks before the Beatles eponymous (“The White Album”) record and the first album to be released on the bands new label, Apple Records. It is also the soundtrack to the film, Wonderwall directed by Joe Massot that was released earlier in 1968. Wonderwall Music mainly features instrumental compositions that are heavily influenced by Harrison’s interest in India and Indian classical music. The record introduced many obscure Indian instruments to rock fans who were not familiar with them such as the shehnai, sarod, tanpura and santoor. Wonderwall Music features songs with this world style along with contrasting pieces in psychedelic rock, ragtime, country and experimental styles. The album had moderate success on the US charts, peaking at #49 on the Billboard 200. Despite this it has been critically revered and credited with introducing Eastern style work music specifically, Indian classical, to the West. This copy is a mid 70s reissue, UK Import press.
Vinyl is play graded VG+. A few barely visible surface marks. Plays with faint background noise that is far from overwhelming. No skips or jumps.
Cover is also in VG+ condition. Has a laminated finish. On front there are stains on corners and along edges. Minor shelf wear on corners. Seams are nice with no splits and title is perfectly legible. Light ring wear on both sides. Original inner sleeve with patent number and “MADE IN ENGLAND” printed on it. Please see pics.
