Starday 102, Hillbilly Hit Parade with George Jones and Thumper Jones (a pseudonym he used to record rockabilly), Leon Payne. Very thick 1st pressing, and one of the HEAVIEST lps I have ever owned, weighing over 12 ounces for the vinyl alone! The vinyl is in NEAR MINT condition, and the cover is VG+ with no seam splits and minor ringwear. VERY hard to find early country lps in this condition, particularly the vinyl. A very important and rare long player in tremendous investment-grade condition. ...................................... In the liner notes, Starday owner and George's producer Pappy Daily announces that "it would normally cost $16.00 or more to purchase the 16 top country songs on single records, but by combining the songs on one record, the top country songs in America are available at less that 1/5th the price" Apparently, country fans back in 1956 had to be convinced why they should buy a new-fangled long playing record rather than 78s or 45s!...........My ebay items are guaranteed to be as described.
