UK FOLK-PSYCH MASTERPIECE!

I play tested this last week (with no interest at all in the music or the group) and it blew me away! I haven't stopped listening to it. I’m not saying this just to get an easy sale. There are other copies of this on eBay; it's not a mega-rarity and you can always go elsewhere.

I knew NOTHING about this band. I bought it because, basically, I liked the name of the band (it's a long story to do with pie); and I knew Rubber Records (a Newcastle label, their biggest seller must be, without doubt, “The Bobby Thompson Laugh-In!” which sold so many in the North East alone in 1978 that it made the national album chart!).

If you believe there’s such a genre as Psych-Folk, or Folk-Psych, or Prog-Folk, or whatever, then this must be close to the very definition of the genre. That’s all I can really say. It’s Folk-Psych; it’s Psych-Folk. But more importantly, it’s freaking awesome! IT IS SUPERB!

The vinyl is visually very clean on both sides. On playing, there is a little very light crackle in only the quietest passages; even then, it is minimal. It plays very, very well! The labels on both sides are very clean and have only light spindle wear.

The TEXTURED sleeve has some light ringwear and a few light marks. But remember: Textured Surface = Larger Surface Area = Greater Potential for Wear.

Apparently, some of these came with a lyric insert. This does NOT have such an insert. But the vinyl is very nice!

Sonically and visually, the disc is very good. The vinyl is clean and retains a nice sheen; the labels are clean too and have no stains, no rips, no writing etc. SEE THE PHOTOS; THERE'S NOTHING TO HIDE!

The 2012 edition of the RRPG lists this at £25. Fair enough. But believe me…this album is worth £25 of anyone’s money.  I think this is a bit of a classic-in-waiting. Simply fantastic! Offered at a low start price to sell (and not at an inflated price to not sell)...The choice to bid is yours; and yours alone...

"Hi, I totally agree with your review of this record. I stumbled by a copy a few years ago and bought it because I liked the name of the band and it too blew me away and has since become one of my all time favourites. I liked it so much I spent quite a lot of money on their other lp The Green Lady, which is also a psych folk classic...Regarding the two Hedgehog pie lp's, I certainly don't think you can find better records from this genre without spending a bucket load of money.
I have also found the Rubber records releases to be very high quality regarding the vinyl itself as well as the sound and production and sleeves. Why this label and Hedgehog pie never made it big is beyond me."
