Description

WELCOME TO OUR AUCTION!

On offer today is a Original 1964 UK 1st Press issue of Heinz only ever LP 'Tribute to Eddie' produced my legendary English record producer JOE MEEK!
This was an unusual release at the time due to the music industry the way it was back in those days artists  usually had to have had at least 2 or 3 top ten hits before they were given the luxury of an LP release, but as Joe Meek was an independent producer he was able to fast track his artists for LP releases, other examples are The Outlaws 'Dream of the west' and Houston Wells 'western style'! All of which were released without any major hit single from either group! Heinz himself scored a top 5 single with 'Just like Eddie' in late 1963 but that was it! And to obviously capitalise on the success of the single this LP 'Tribute to Eddie' was quickly recorded to be released in time for Christmas 63'! Unfortunately though, there was a delay in the pressing plant due to all Decca top artists taking priority over independent artists so sadly, this LP didn't hit the shops until March 1964, by that time Heinz single sales had dried up and the album sank without a trace. Hence to find original copies now is extremely rare and here's your chance!
This is the Hugely rare original 1964 UK 1st pressing (LK 4599) mono on the Red/Silver 'Decca' label complete with original poly-lined sleeve
Sleeve Condition : VG (Sleeve in very good strong condition with clear graphics, Zero wear to spine or seams and only very light aging to the rear! Does show some light creases around the edges and a very small nick to the top front (see photos) also somebody has written '15/-" on the rear (obviously the original record shop as we haven't used 'shillings' in the UK since 1969! Altogether though, a fine example!

Record Condition : EX (The 1st press vinyl is pretty flawless really with very few signs of play, Both sides sound crystal clear and loud, there is a small mark on side 2 but does not affect playback whatsoever, perfectly solid and powerful mono sound! (Joe Meek production, so expect plenty of bottom end frequency!)

  • MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
  • EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
  • VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
  • GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
