'A CHANGE IS GONNA COME' / 'NOBODY KNOWS'
VERY RARE ORIGINAL 1967 UK STUDIO ONE 7" 45

This is a very rare original UK issue 1967 Studio 1 7" single by the legendary Heptones. It is one of the earliest Studio 1 singles to have been released in the UK (going by the catalogue number, possibly only the fifth.) and sold so few it is almost impossible to find now. 'A Change Is Gonna Come' is not a cover version of the Sam Cooke classic, which is what I was expecting, but a Heptones original. 'Nobody Knows' is a brilliant interpretation of the blues standard 'Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out'. Both sides are beautiful, high quality rocksteady, with the always incredible harmonies found on all the Heptones material from this era. Of course, both sides are produced by Coxsone Dodd. This is the earliest Heptones single to be released on Studio 1 as a UK pressing.
CONDITION:
RECORD = GOOD +
The record doesn't seem to have been played a lot but there are some small light scratches, particulary on the 'A' side. There are fewer on the 'B' side. There are no very deep or large scratches. There is some crackle and some clicks, but there is not so much that it ruins the music, again, there is less on the 'B' side. Both sides play through well and this is in probably slightly better that average condition than most Ska / Reggae singles from this era. As both of the tracks are quiet, Rocksteady harmony tracks, most of the few surviving copies of this single will be ruined by excessive scratches and crackle. This one is not near perfect, but it's not anywhere near ruined either. The chances of an excellent or mint condition copy of this appearing now are very slim. It is a genuinely very rare single, by one of the truly great Ska, Reggae and Rocksteady acts, and does not appear for sale anywhere very often at all in any condition.
LABELS:
Unfortunately somebody along the line (not me!) has decided it would be good idea to write their name on the 'A' side label and then scribble it out! There is also another fainter name on the edge of this label. A shame as it does not look attractive. Please see the photo. Luckily, the 'B' side label is excellent, with no writing, stains or other faults, this label looks great, it's just a shame about the writing on the 'A' side. In spite of this, the single is still a highly desirable item, which many Rocksteady / Ska collectors would love to have in their collection.
This record comes in a white card sleeve.
PLEASE NOTE: I'm sorry to say that I will not accept bids from, or will not sell this item to anybody with a zero feedback rating unless they contact me first. This is due to there being a lot of well known people deliberately setting up accounts on ebay from abroad and not paying for anything that they win. This has been going on for a while as any regular seller of Reggae and Ska records will know. It's happened to me twice in the past. I've only known this to happen with Reggae / Ska records, which is unfortunate. Very sorry about that. I hope you understand.
