Description
HORACE SILVER 10" LP "Horace Silver Quintet Vol. 3" Blue Note 5058, "P", "DG," "RVG," Vinyl
This is the 1954, first-pressing, Frame Cover, 10", Flat Rim, Deep-Groove, "RVG"-etched, "P"-pressing of HORACE SILVER's "Horace Silver Quintet Vol. 3" on the 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 5058. Musicians include Silver, Kenny Dorham, Hank Mobley, Doug Watkins, Art Blakey.
This Blue Note original VINYL plays practically pop and tick free. Only occasional pops/ticks. Music is very strong, dynamic, clear, pure and rich in tone. Record plays well. No skips. No warps. No locked grooves. Both sides have excellent gloss. The Deep Groove "767 Lexington Ave NYC" labels are strong with some spindle marks/wear. See photos. As with all Lexington Ave to New York USA Blue Note pressings, imperfections do not detract from this powerfully recorded and pressed vinyl.
LAMINATED FRAME COVER is in excellent shape; no spine split! 1" split lower seam at opening. Top seam perfect. Please see photos. The back jacket shows age, pencil notation, "Seymour's Record Mart" stamp, otherwise excellent. See photos!
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
