Hapshash and the Coloured Coat featuring the Human Host and the Heavy Metal Kids, Imperial Records 1967 mono promo pressing.
As with many mono records from the 1967/1968 transition period where mono was being discontinued in favor of stereo, this promo record was issued to record stations and DJs in a stereo sleeve with a mono promo sticker attached to it.
Sleeve is a strong VG. The front cover is clean when viewed straight on, as shown in the photos, with a faint hint of ringwear visible when viewed from an angle. There is scuffing/edge wear along the edges of the sleeve, and the first beginning of a split along the bottom edge of the sleeve. Beginning of age related yellowing and spotting of the white rear cover slick. The spine is straight, and the spine text is largely readable and undamaged, as shown in the photos.
Record is VG+. No visible spindle marks or other damage to the labels. The vinyl retains much of its original shine and gloss, with faint sleeve removal hairline marks visible when held at an angle to bright light. There is one major scuff mark visible between tracks one and two of side one, as shown in the photos, and this scuff mark does produce an audible noise during each rotation. Otherwise, with the mono switch on a pre-amp or amp engaged, this record plays like many 60s mono records, strong and clean, with huge bass. The bass is a big part of this record, and I’ve rarely heard stronger, crisper, clearer bass on any 60s record.
