Hear Sunnysiders Michigan Bluegrass EP Heaven’s Elevator, Light From Heave + 2
Sunnysiders – “God’s Elevator”, “Light from Heaven”, “Nail Scared Hands”, and “How Far Did I Fall?” (Fortune 1350). Formed in 1964 at the height of the folk scene bluegrass revival, this Detroit-based band was led by tenor vocalist Roy McGinniss and originally played for a couple of years in the Monroe County Jamboree, then became the house band for an equally obscure venue called the Harbor Lights Jamboree. The band recorded under its own name and also backed several other artists such as Roy Cobb, Clyde Moody and Ford Nix, and was Nix's backup for his own album on the Fortune label. The Sunnysiders consisted of Roy McGinniss singing tenor vocals, Paul Boyd on banjo and guitar, Jim Childress (guitar), Garmon Mullins (fiddle), Tim Wilson (rhythm guitar), and Peter Wolf playing bass. Includes a promotional flyer and a small paper from the Stanley Brothers Fan Club identifying the record as a “Review Copy” (Fay McGinnis, the wife of Roy, was President of the Stanley Brothers Fan Club.) Record is in strong VG+ condition. Sleeve is in VG condition (has a tear in photo.)
