Description
For sale is vinyl album by Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 titled "Herb Alpert Presents Segio Mendes & Brasil '66", originally released in 1966 by A&M Records and has a dark tan-olive colored label with the A&M Records logo in a box to the left of the spindle hole. I bought this used and immediately cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine before putting it into an archival inner sleeve. Doing this protects the vinyl and any inner sleeve or insert that may have come with the album. There is no original inner sleeve with this listing. This is a first edition with a cover that has the titles in a greenish-yellow color that subsequent reissues have yellow titles instead. In the dead wax between the last tracks and the labels is etched the matrix numbers 1-B/1-D, indicating that early stampers were used to press this album. This is a hallmark of state-of-the-art engineering, sought out by collectors and music lovers for their superb sound qualities . The cover is graded as Very Good Plus because of corner blunts, faint ring wear, edge rubs and the beginning of seam splits along the spine. The spine has paper loss and color loss at the corners from these blunts and rubs. The vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint, without any surface scratches, smudges or spindle marks on the labels. I'm play grading it as Excellent because of occasional ultra low level background noise, barely noticeable, and three quick pops on Side One. This record's sound sound is magical, with a clear, spacious sound stage with pin-point focus and accuracy, especially with the piano and vocals. It plays all the way through without any skips. You would be hard pressed to find a copy of this hard to find record in this condition, especially an original first pressing. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative.
