Description

EMPIRE STATE BUILDING NY 10" 78 RPM RECORD PICTURE DISC

YEAR:  1932

World's tallest structure
Empire State Building, New York
"A monument to the genius of man"

Manufactured by the Siemon Co., Bridgeport, Connecticut for
the Illustrated Record Corporation, Montreal, Canada. Made in the USA.

GRADING; The original paper bag has no splits and is in EX condition. The record is also in great EX+ condition (visual graded as I don’t have a 78 RPM record player) Have a look at the pictures.

Here’s an extreme rare  genuine 1932  10” Picture Disc item. So if your into collecting historical and obscure records, or maybe just loving beautiful PD records, this sure is an awesome colletors item. It’s a 1932 beautful Photo Picture Disc record made of thick pressed cardboard, printed in black on white. At least I think it’s 1932 beause it’s written on the original paper bag that comes with it. Could also be 1931?  I’ve been unable to find any further information about this record on the web. It’s been for auction just once before on Ebay, so this will be the second time ever!! The only information I can give you is what I found on the first Ebay auction ever of this PD record at popsike.com :

• On side A is a narration of a bird's eye view of what can be seen at the 102nd floor:
Central Park–42nd Street–The Chrysler Building– Park Avenue–The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel–The Hudson River–The Washington Bridge–The Statue of Liberty, etc.
Narration is done on light background music.

• On side B is a description of what the Empire State Building is made of:
...the building weighs 50,000 tons; 4000 people were employed to build the structure; building has 17 million feet of telephone wire and cable; building is 1250 feet tall; opened on May 1st, 1931, etc.
