Description
This is the real deal, not a counterfeit: the rare Vee Jay 1062 Stereo version II, the very first Beatles stereo album released in America -- when Stereo was the unusual alternative.
This album is guaranteed to be Authentic: not a counterfeit, knock-off or duplicated copy. Version II simply means that the song titles include, "Ask Me Why" and "Please, Please Me" -- which replaced "Love Me Do" and P.S. I Love You" on the only Stereo copies of this, the Beatles first album in America.
Stereo albums are quite rare in this configuration: the label shows the Vee Jay logo in white letters on black background inside a red oval. The size of the label was normally used for a 45 or single record--quite unusual but known to exist. The words "INTRODUCING The BEATLES" and "THE BEATLES" are printed on 2 lines ABOVE the spindle hole in sharp silver letters. Song titles are below the center hole in silver letters. The label reads "VJLPS 1062" and "STEREO" left and right of the hole. This is a black label with colorband; some light hand printing on outside of label.
Vinyl is a clean and glossy VG+ with the letters "MR" stamped in a cirle in the dead wax run-out area, meaning this record was produced in Santa Monica - the correct West Coast factory for VJ records.
Outer cover has average VG shelf wear and a split from top right corner 3 inches in. The left bottom corner has a small bump. The photograph is very sharp focus on a glossy surface, not fuzzy or dull. You can see fingernails, cuff-links, John's watch clearly and individual patterns in shirts and suit coats. These are the signs of an authentic non-counterfeit copy, including George's shadow visible to his right. Bid with total confidence...
