Description
Released by Island in 1969, cat # ILPS 9111; this is “In The Court Of The Crimson King” and observation by King Crimson.
This is the original pink Island pressing. The matrix number are ILPS 9111 A2/B4.
The gatefold sleeve is in very good condition. The sleeve has general age-related wear throughout with the most obvious defects being a small sticker tear to the top right corner, a scuff on the rear of the sleeve in the top left quadrant and on the inside a previous owner has written “Lol’s” in blue ink. On the plus side, the spine is legible with minimal wear and all seams are fine with no splits.
The record labels are clean with light, just visible age-related mottling.
The record is in at least very good condition. Side One has some very light hairlines and a light scuff you can just about see, but nothing very noticeable. It plays better than very good and still retains a decent sheen to the surface. Side Two looks better than the first side, again with a few light hairlines and one more noticeable mark on track one. When played, there is a succession of low level pops in the first track – not caused by a visual defect. I suspect this is due to a pressing fault than play wear, though the fact remains that the record does pop. Were it not for this, the record would be sonically in excellent condition.
