Description

Original French pressing on the Vogue label from 1966. The record is in VG condition and the laminated gatefold sleeve is in VG+ condition. Plays great due to the superloud pressing.

On offer here is the truly fabulous self-titled 1966 debut LP by the legendary Jacques Dutronc. This fabulous LP is quite possibly the BEST French 1960's album ever released!! Lots of fuzzed out garage freak-beat tunes. Some incredible electric Dylan-esque moves. Hard edged beat-psych. Awesome tribal drums and percussion breaks. Excellent production that got it all right!!

This isn't just one of the best French 60's rock albums ever. This isn't just one of the best 60's albums from any non-English speaking country. This is one of the best garage-rock / freakbeat albums produced anywhere!! A simply brilliant album, includes numerous killer fuzzed out garage, feak-beat and hard edged psychy-pop songs. Drawing on influences from Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, and the Kinks, Jacques Dutronc adds an ironic wit that a generation of indie-rock hipsters would kill to have, and creates quite possibly the first great post-modern rock album. It helps if you speak French, but in any language tracks such as, "Les Cactus", "Sur Une Nappe De Restaurant", "Les Temps Sont Flous,Les Gens Sont Fous", "La Fille Du Pere Noel", "On Nous Cache Tout,On Nous Dit Rien" are all nearly perfect freakbeat stompers. Other stand out tracks include the Dylan inspired "L'Espace D'Une Fille" featuring snarling vocals and great acid guitar, in fact there isn't a single poor track on this truly fabulous and classic mid '60s LP!! One of the most dynamic and convincing rock musicians in the French '60s scene Jacques Dutronc may be best compared stylistically to Ray Davies of the Kinks: like Davies, Dutronc combined strong American garage-rock influences with Beatle-era "beat" melodicism. All tracks on this legendary album are self-composed Jacques Dutronc numbers.
