RARE German first pressing of James Booker`s live album "The Piano Prince From New Orleans" on Aves Records (1977).
"Suffice it to say, this album features New Orleans piano legend, James Booker in live performance at the top of his game. This album was recorded in Hamburg, Germany in 1976 and thankfully was well recorded (better in fact, than the contemporaneous Leipzig album), giving an accurate impression of James at his fluid, live best with just a piano, a mic and unstoppable musical charisma. The various grooves layed down at the piano are irresistible from the beginning of "Life" through the end of the album while as a vocalist, James will carry you through a myriad emotions. I especially enjoyed "United Our Thing Will Stand", the deep blues of "Stormy Monday", and the build on the closing vamp of "Too Much Blues" for intensity and deep feeling.." - Charles A. GRADING:
EX COVER with a bit of all-round wear. Please see photos for details.
- Scuffed corners.
- Corner bend (at bottom left).
- Laminate wear from long-time storage.
- Small area of scuffing to the (otherwise fully readable) spine.
VG(+) RECORD with numerous signs of previous play. A very rare find in any condition!
- Visible hairlining throughout, with a number of superficial scratches.
- Some background crackle in quiet passages, as well as the occasional click or pop.
- A single deeper scratch (1 cm long) causes recurring pops in the latter half of final track "Please Send Me Someone To Love".
- Original first-pressing Aves Records labels with no visible spindle wear whatsoever.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "69031 - A PF" and "69031 - B PF".
- This copy of "The Piano Prince From New Orleans" is fully certified to be an original first German pressing, issued in 1977.
