Description
This is a 16 inch, black lacquer acetate coated aluminum, 33 1/3 rpm transcription disc containing one complete 10 minute radio program and approximately 7 minutes of another radio program. This disc was recorded for reference purposes and not available to the general public, very rare!
Side one contains the complete radio broadcast of Jan Garber & His Orchestra from May 17, 1948. This performance most likely originated from The Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. Songs by Jan Garber & His Orchestra include "My Dear (theme)", "Red Silk Stockings And Green Perfume" vocal by Tim Reardon & The Twin Tones, "And Mimi" vocal Tim Reardon. Program is 10 minutes and complete. Originally broadcast on WHBC, the announcer states: "Jan Garber And His Orchestra have been brought to through the facilities of The Ohio Broadcasting Company".
Side two contains approximately 7 minutes of a program starring Tommy Dorsey as a DJ playing records. Records played include "You Can Do No Wrong" (The original song is from "The Pirate", however the vocals are not by Judy Garland and Gene Kelly, and it sounds like Tommy Dorsey on trombone), "I'm In The Mood For Love" Monica Lewis. There is an additional 2 1/2 minutes of unidentified instrumentals that may be from the same program
The disc is in excellent condition. The sound on the Jan Garber side is excellent. The sound on the Tommy Dorsey side is very good to excellent, due to the original source of the recording
Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables. For $10 I can include a CD transfer of the entire disc for the buyer only
