Description

Bellybutton
Jellyfish
(Charisma Records America, Inc, 91400-1, August 1990, Promo-Only LP )

In March 1991, I worked at a wholesale music warehouse in Portland, OR where I acquired this promo-only LP
of Jellyfish's first album (featuring a tri-fold sleeve). Prior to a 10 March appearance at the Key Largo nightclub, the
group did an in-store appearance at Music Millennium where I was able to get all four members to sign the album sleeve.

Each signature (signed in black Sharpie pen) included a playful inscription:
Andy Sturmer (on front cover foldout): "Mike - This shrooms for you!" Love, Andy
Roger Manning (on front cover): "Mike, Where's you (Mickey Mouse?) hoppity hop" Roger Jellyfish
Jason Falkner (on reverse of foldout): "hey Mike, This is the part of the album that should be more exciting but being that
paper is money these days, oh well (more senseless rambling....) see you Jason
Chris Manning (on reverse of foldout): To Mike: from fishy Chris (accompanied by a large cartoon drawing of a fish with lips)

Round, white "When You Play It, Say It!" sticker on front cover.
Stated "Not For Sale / Promotional Use Only" on reverse of sleeve, upper left corner.
Stated "Lent For Promotional Use Only / Any Sale or Unauthorized Transfer is Prohibited and Void. Subject to Return Upon Demand
By Owner / Acceptance of This Record Constitutes Agreement To the Above" stamped on reverse of sleeve in gold ink, upper right corner.
No stains, tears, splits, or ring wear, with only a minute touch of rubbing to the upper right and left corners: VG+

Includes custom black and white lyric inner sleeve. Sleeve is clean, free of stains, creases and splits.

Stated "For Promotional Use Only" on LP labels.
Vinyl is clean, with no scuffs or scratches: VG+

I was also able to get the guys to sign an 8 1/2" x 14" poster for the Key Largo show (also in black Sharpie pen).

Andy Sturmer "Mike - test 1...2..." Love, Andy
Roger Manning "Come sail away good brother" Roger
Jason Falkner "next time bring the girl Mike" Jason (with an arrow pointing to the girl on the poster)
Chris Manning Kum Bai Ya Mike! Chris (Manning also outlined the girl's eyes and nose.)

After signing, the poster was folded in half and stored with the other paper memorabilia accompanying this LP.
A heavy crease is evident from this action. Poster is free of stains and pin/staple holes.

In addition to the poster, seller is also including a selection of paper memorabilia:

A rare Jellyfish promotional foldout brochure, created by Charisma Records' Press & Artist Development department
(8 1/2" x 11" closed, 16 1/2" by 11" open).  Includes a facetious history of "the legend of Jellyfish," penned by
Gregarious T. Cline, along with a more believable selection of facts about the recording of the album.
Folder is clean, free of stains, writing and creases.

Folder also includes two pages of photocopied articles on the group from the San Francisco Examiner, Spin,
College Music Journal and HITS magazine.

Also included:
* Page from the WEA wholesale solicitation catalog for the release of Bellybutton. The LP format was not initially offered.

* A photo-copied review from the 12 March 1991 (Portland) Oregonian by Marty Hughley on the Key Largo show.
