JIMI HENDRIX 'ELECTRIC LADYLAND' 1968 UK TRACK 'BLUE' 1st OF THE 1st.
This is an original MASSIVELY RARE 1968 earliest UK Stereo 1st pressing on the TRACK record label with a fully laminated E J DAY Ltd. gatefold sleeve with 1st issue 'BLUE TEXT' and the all important LARGER pictures of Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding. The RAREST POSSIBLE 1ST PRESSING of this seminal recording.
I bought this classic double album when it first hit the shops in 1968 and in doing so I got one of the earliest of the first pressings. It`s been in my possesion ever since, always stored upright and always played on decent equipment, therefore even after 42 years it`s in excellent condition overall.
I`m no expert so I`ve done a fair bit of research recently into identifying the differences between earlier and later pressings.
There are four things to note about the first pressings.
1. They were pressed on thicker vinyl than later ones, consequently they were better equipped to stand the test of time.
2. All four sides have matrix numbers ending in number one. These are found on the run out grooves on each side.
3. On first issues the bracketed catalogue numbers with a letter on the left side of the label are printed upside down.
4. On first issues there is no set number printed below the stereo logos on the right side of the label as there is on later pressings.
As you can see from the photo`s this one ticks all the right boxes.
THE VINYL
The records themselves are in generally excellent condition. There is a small chip on the edge of side A and a scuff mark on side B neither of which have any effect on the quality of sound produced, which is excellent for all four sides, with very little surface noise at all.
THE E J DAY Ltd. SLEEVE.
The iconic naked ladies sleeve ( all nineteen of them ) banned in the US and reputedly not liked by Hendrix much either, is the VERY RARE early limited printing with ' BLUE TEXT ' and the much larger pictures of Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding. Subsequent print runs, even of first issue records had white text and much smaller pictures, and to my eye at least don`t look quite right. Compare the blue text sleeve with the white text sleeve and you will immediately see what I mean. Makes you wonder if someone at the printers cocked up, or maybe production costs came in to it. Anyway I know which one I prefer. The sleeve complete with the original poly lined inner sleeves is in excellent condition with just some UV fading to the spine.

The black and silver TRACK labels are all in excellent condition with no undue spindle wear or marks.
