Description
Here for auction is a lovely example of the second studio album by THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCES titled AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE, Catalogue Number 612 003. This is a 1967 UK MONO 1st PRESSING on the TRACK RECORD LABEL, with a 1st issue E. J. DAY LAMINATED GATEFOLD SLEEVE.
[The sleeve has flipbacks inside the opening gatefold along the top and bottom edges. The matrix numbers are the earliest Av1/Bv1].
The sleeve is in very good condition. The only significant detraction is a 2cm length of storage wear at the bottom of the spine. It is otherwise a very presentable sleeve indeed.
The vinyl is also in very good condition. Its a solid pressing which retains a nice shine and sits flat on the turntable. Both sides display only a few light surface marks under bright light. The matt black Track labels are free from any unwanted stickers or writing. The record plays to a high standard with barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality and only a minimum of unwanted noise.
Overall this is a very tidy 1st press mono copy of Hendrix's iconic second album.
PACKAGING & POSTAGE
LPs are posted in purpose-made mailers with plenty of stiffening. Records are packed outside of the outer sleeve in order to prevent seam-splits in transit.

I have been informed that the ridge on the outer label denotes this to be a contract pressing.
Demand was very high at the time of releases and the Track (Polydor) pressing plant could not produce enough, so a contract was put out to an unconnected pressing plant to boost production.
The LP is therefore quite a bit rarer than the standard Track pressed version.
