Description
Outstanding vintage jazz LP featuring JIMMY SMITH TRIO on the BLUE NOTE label, from 1957. Title is “Groovin’ at Smalls’ Paradise – Volume 1.” Catalog number is BLP 1585.
Pressed on thick vinyl. Label is blue/white with label address as follows: “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC * NEW YORK USA.” Has RVG machine stamped in trailoff vinyl, with “ear symbol” on both sides. One Side has deep groove, the other side does not. Jacket has following address on reverse at bottom: “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23.”
Personnel consist of the following: JIMMY SMITH – organ; EDDIE McFADDEN – guitar; and DONALD BAILEY – drums.
Jacket is very nice, would grade excellent except for a bit of wear and bumps at corners, a bit of cracking in a couple spots on top seam. No splits or writing, art work is nice and bright, reverse is clean white, overall a very fine jacket.
Vinyl is NEAR MINT, obviously played a very small number of times, perhaps once or twice. A couple very slight hairlines (not audible), no serious marks, was obviously handled with utmost care, a beauty. Fidelity is awesome. I am certain the winning bidder will be very pleased.
Side 1 contains following songs: “After Hours” (Avery Parrish), and “My Funny Valentine” (Rodgers-Hart).
Side Two contains following tunes: “Slightly Monkish” (Jimmy Smith), and “Laura” (Raksin).
