on the original DECCA RECORDS F.12410 from 1966.
This is one of the real 'big boys' of British Freakbeat and Mod!
Next to his own stunning 1967 follow-up; WINSTONS FUMBS 'Real Crazy Apartment/Snow White', it's easily one the rarest and more sought Small Faces related single - and not least because it was the same beat song that they capably delivered on their Decca self-titled debut album, but souped-up and fuzzed into a more threatening, hard-hitting, attacking statement!!
Wonderful, leaves you breathless, and deserves to have the volume whacked up!
What Jimmy Winston lacks in Steve Marriott-like soulful tones, he makes up for in in-yer-face enthusiastic vocal belting, and powerful instrumentation to back it up.
Bloody exciting in every respect!!
Kenny Lynch wrote the song, Winston wrote the flip.
Glyn Johns of WHO (and Steve Miller Band) notoriety handled the excellent production. This is a true landmark in British beat - hastening the turn-round to heavier, and more psychedelic attitudes.
Now about the vinyl condition; this is absolutely stupendous Near MINT condition!! It is as you would have expected to buy it in 1966!!
I have only ever handled this single with utmost care, and with barely a spindle mark, the lables are clean AS NEW.
I don't think the bootleggers or compilation people have even FOUND a single copy, as I don't think it has been re-pressed (don't you hate those tin-pot crappy repros with the large centre anyway? They look and sound very third-rate).
