Description

An original 1st on UK Chrysalis from 1971 - qualifies properly for 1st press. A reasonably big seller and not too hard to find a pressing from the 1st couple of years. What is strange is that true 1st pressings are much harder to come by - I have no explanation as to why! Matrix 1U/3U - 1st cut. Note 1st pressings are much heavier pressed. They also, distinctively, mention Island in the perimeter text at 12 o'clock. The vinyl comes in a proper and 1st textured gatefold cover printed by E J Day. We also have the original inner with exposed flips. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. Don't ask me why this full combination is so hard to find..it just is.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In lovely condition having only seen light careful use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of lightest marks per side - nothing heavy or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAREXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations per side. I have to say I nearly always find issue with this title - particularly as you get on to the side 2 tracks. This copy, however, is holding up very nicely...All I could make out was a couple of minor ticks toward the end of the title track Aqualung, and 'My God'. And a few isolated crackles in a couple of brief spots per side e.g. running into CE MARY and in M.Goose and the choral element of 'God'. Some static rustles in the intro to 'Locomotive'..but it soon evaporates. To be honest...not too much to complain at. It is dishing out some very nice rich audio with excellent fidelity. Slipstream sounds fantastic. Likin' it. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex-) In really nice condition and the front and back are looking superb. If I wanted to be critical I'd mention slight surface ripple to the interior. Not all that obvious and certainly not unsightly. Minimal edge wear. Spine fully intact - text fully legible. A very fine sturdy looking example indeed.
Inner (Ex-) No splits. A couple of minor foxing marks. Otherwise superb.
