Incredibly rare opportunity to buy a brand new still sealed Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs (MFSL) Original Master Recording pressing of Jethro Tull’s seminal LP ‘Thick as a Brick’.
I purchased this from new at the time of release in 1985 and then never got around to opening it. I has been stored upright in professionally made record shelving since purchase.
Mobile Fidelity were one of the very first audiophile companies to make super quality pressings of LP records. They started around 1980 and continued for many years before going out of business. They have since re-launched, I believe under new ownership, but these original ‘Original Master Recordings’ are very rare, wonderful pressings that sound absolutely incredible, and very collectable. To find an early one still sealed is very unusual. They pressed on very high quality vinyl, the cardboard covers were of very high quality, essentially they were made to be the definitive copies of the album in question and in all cases of which I am aware. They were.
As can be seen from the photograph, this is number 4597.
I have tried to photograph the LP as faithfully as possible. I have not used Photoshop or any other type of photo enhancement.
To protect the LP in transit it will be packed in a new cruciform LP mailer with stiffening card inserts. Unless requested otherwise I will send all records by 2nd class recorded delivery which has limited insurance.
