Axis Bold As Love
Track Record 1967
1st press of Jimi Hendrix’s second album.
This comes with the original lyric inner.
The sleeve is about VG+. A bit of wear to the corners but essentially a very vibrant gatefold sleeve with no previous owner markings.
The insert has been crumpled inside the sleeve for seemingly some time as the ends are creased. It is now protected in its own plastic sleeve and retains a nice vibrancy for the most part. Some age spots but a great addition.
The vinyl has many hairlines and the odd lighter mark and appears VG. Playback however is easily VG+. On the run in to the spoken intro there are three or four nasty pops and one fears the worst, however, this quickly disappears and the rest of the side plays really well with no interference except between tracks.
Side 2 is the same for the most part. A couple of pops during Castles Made of Sand and clicks at the end of She’s So Fine and into the quiet intro of One Rainy Wish but again, this soon fades and I’m confident in my VG+ grading for the audio. No skips or sticks - an enjoyable listen once the first few seconds are out of the way!
