Over the years I've owned and sold many rare items connected with The Moody Blues and the individual band members. What I'm offering here however, has to be one of, if not, THE rarest piece ever.
In 1977, Justin Hayward released his first solo album titled 'Songwriter'. A beautiful album recorded simply and without all the heavy production associated with The Moody Blues. The strength of the melodies were enough to carry the album and I still believe it to be his best solo effort.
In 1989 on a trip to Boston, I found this promo copy of his album at a used record store and bought it. I didn't think much of it until I looked inside and found all the "extras". Finding the (un-cracked) stickers was surprising enough but holding the unused/un-peeled window decal was simply stunning! I'd never seen or heard of these items being included with this Lp. To find them unused is just incredible. Since then, I've informed myself and apparently London Records sent a few promotional copies to stores in 1977 with stickers and Justin Hayward caricature window decal to help with sales. Deram in the UK comissioned artist Jack Davis to draw the Hayward caricature. I've attempted to show it by raising it to a window and letting the daylight shine through it (see photo) Of course, the ONLY way you can see it with all it's detail and rich colours, is to unpeel it and stick it on a window...something I won't do.
I am quite sure there aren't many of these promo Lps which include these extras. After this copy is sold...that's it! Don't let it get away because you'll never find another.
Condition of Cover: Excellent....some minor wear to corners and edges....spine is nearly perfect. Over all it couldn't be much nicer.
Condition of Record: Excellent
Condition of original inner sleeve: VG+....mild wear with two seam splits but still very acceptable. This can be easily upgraded.
Condition of Extras: Near Mint. The stickers measure aprox. 4" x 5.25" and the window decal measures 8.75" x 8.75"
