KENNY BURRELL Blue Lights Volume 2 New & Sealed Vinyl Record
Record Label: Classic Records/Blue Note BLP 1597
Audiophile version of the 1958 Blue Note on Classic Records' 200 gram QUIEX SV-P vinyl. Record is new and sealed in it's original plastic sleeve. Perforation is completely intact. No flaws or blemishes... 100% MINT!
An extremely hard to find SEALED audiophile reissue by Classic Records. Mastered at half speed from the original source master tapes, this was Classic Records' attempt to achieve the ultimate in vinyl sound quality . An all-analog, tube amplification process was used at every step and then pressed on Classic's proprietary 200gram QUIEX SV-P Vinyl. The packaging is beautiful as Classic pride themselves for releasing each album with the original artwork, LP labels and any other materials which were included with original pressings. This title is LONG out of print and growing more collectable by the day.
Cover artwork is by Andy Warhol!
Songs:
Side One 1. Rock Salt 2. The Man I Love
Side Two 3. Chuckin' 4. Phinupi
Review: Guitarist Kenny Burrell leads a very coherent jam session in the studio with a particularly strong cast that also includes trumpeter Louis Smith, both Junior Cook and Tina Brooks on tenors, either Duke Jordan or Bobby Timmons on piano, bassist Sam Jones, and drummer Art Blakey.
The material consists of basic originals and standards and has excellent playing all around. The solo star is often trumpeter Louis Smith, who fell into obscurity after a few notable appearances on Blue Note during the period (including his own brilliant date, Here Comes Louis Smith). He was one of the finest of the Clifford Brown-influenced players of the period and deserves much greater recognition. This is a recommended reissue for hard bop collectors.
