Up for auction is a virtually pristine original copy of the sef-titled "Kenny Burrell" album released on Prestige Records (PRLP 7088) in 1957. This copy has all the bells and whistles: Mono, deep groove pressing, RVG stamped in the run-out, matching W. 50th St. addresses on the labels and the album cover. Comes with original "onion skin" paper inner sleeve. This copy is in absolutely superb condition, the nicest copy I've seen in 30 years of collecting. It looks like it was just taken out of the original shrink wrap. The front cover shows no flaws to speak of. The lamination still retains its original high gloss shine with no signs of rubbing or ring wear. Corners are super sharp. Seams are strong, intact, no splits, no flaking, no cracking. Back cover also looks pristine. No writing of any kind, no ring wear, no rubbing losses of any kind, no chips along borders or seams. The only flaw I can see (hardly worth mentioning) is a very small grey spot to the left of the rear photo. I would grade this cover Near MINT (NM), my highest rating. The condition of the vinyl is equally impressive. No evidence of any scratches or scuffs. Retains its original high gloss luster and shine. No marks around spindle holes, indicating very little, if any previous play. Original onion skin inner sleeve still retains its original static cling to the record. The sound quality is superb, very quiet, very clear. When I bought this record many years ago from The Jazz Record Revival in Colorado, I may have been the first one to play it--and I played it only once. This is as close to "untouched" as you will find. Copies of this quality rarely see the light of day. Most remain deep in collectors' archives, just as this one has for the last 50 years.
