Description
Lawrence Tibbett with Stewart Wille (piano acc.) On The Road To Mandalay (written by Rudyard Kipling-Oley Speaks) single sided TEST PRESSING 12" 78 RPM on the Victor Special Record label and noted as Cve-45190-1 in 1928. The amazingly COOL part about this record, is that the great American opera singer (baritone), Lawrence Tibbett, inscribed and signed the outer perimeter of the A-side label as: "Many thanks Stew for the beautiful work!", as well as Tibbett's signature written only as "Lawrence" (learn more about Lawrence Tibbett on Wikipedia). The B-side of this record is ungrooved, and features the engraved "Victor" design to the full side.
Well, while digging a little deeper for more info on this 78, I found it listed on the Encyclopedic Discography of Victor Recordings website(http://victor.library.ucsb.edu/index.php/matrix/detail/800019314/CVE-45190-On_the_road_to_Mandalay), noting all the details retrieved from the Victor ledgers, which notes that this is 1 of 4 different single-take songs recorded with Stewart Wille on May 29, 1928 in New York at Liederkranz Hall.

I see NO edge chips, standard cracks or pressure cracks to this 78. Just so you are aware, I’m going by a totally visual grading. The white and gold labeled vinyl (typed title and artist info) is in excellent - NEAR MINT condition! Keeping this 78 from a solid NEAR MINT or MINT grade, are a couple whispy sleeve marks and whispy scratches. Please see the photos below to view the label condition.
