Description
1972 unique mastering of two different mastering engineers, George Piros on side 1
and Rob Grenell on side 2, denoted by the GP etched in runouts and very small RG etched on
side 2.
Re-pressing of Led Zeppelin I pressed at Presswell as indicated by the PR on labels and etched in runouts.
VINYL test played loud with tree up, has several light hairlines but plays with very light background crackle that does
not get in the way of the music which sounds excellent on this version with the duel mixes.
There were few clicks at beginning of “Your Time Is Gonna Come “ then cleans up quickly and sounds quiet and non-distracting even during quietest passages. Really nice solid VG+ listen.
COVER in EX/VG++ with 80% of the shrink wrap still present. Graphics are crisp bright and the seams
are solid except for a very small area near the opening on bottom where seam is off that has small tear.
Shrink wrap is unattached at top right corner and bottom right corners with a area removed on back (see photos)
Spine looks solid and fully readable. Includes original price sticker on front cover.
INNER SLEEVE looks to be 1st pressing sleeve in nice VG+ condition
NOTES:
Hybrid copy using original RG Side 1 and replacement GP master on Side 2. This is the first issue containing Piros master and was accompanied by ROCK 1 ad sleeve (1972). The Piros side retains the original Monarch job number; the next issue would get a new Monarch number and contain GP masters on both sides.
Side 2 'RG' in runout indicates Rob Grenell cut.
Side 2 'W' in runout indicates the lacquer blank is from Audio disc
Side 2 'LWP' in runout indicates metalwork by Longwear Plating.
Side 1 'GP' in runout indicates George Piros cut.
Side 1 'REPL' in matrix indicates a new tape mix used for producing lacquer.
Although track B5 is listed with a duration of 3:30, it actually plays for about 8:28.
