Original 1970 1st issue on red/plum Atlantic label 2401002 (no hyphen in the serial number )....LED ZEPPELIN III with rotating wheel cover.
Record labels show Peter Grant as Executive Producer which was changed on later copies.
Etched run-offs..... Side 1. Do what thou wilt Side 2. So mote it be
Matrix .....A5/B5
VINYL.....playability varies from Very Good-/Very Good+ in parts.....the robust heavyweight vinyl still retains a healthy surface shine on both sides. Magnified examination reveals no deep scratches although there are superficial scratches / hairlines and a couple of very small cosmetic scuffs. It plays through without any skips or jumps. Background surface crackle can be heard but mostly in the quieter passages of music and between tracks with a few low-level pops (not super-loud clicks) on each side for authenticity of age and usage. No serious distortion and no groovewear. A recurring low-audio tick for several revolutions at the quiet start of Since I've Been Loving You but this disappears after a while.
GATEFOLD COVER ... Excellent- condition. Fully laminated , UK printed by E.J.Day Group . No laminate lifted, no heavy creasing. The cover is notorious for discolouration of the white print but this one has escaped with just light fade to the front & back edges. The spine is strong with perfectly legible text (see pic). Edges all round are excellent with the mildest signs of usage on the opening pocket edges.
WHEEL ......Excellent.....Rotating wheel is firmly fixed and works perfectly
LABELS....Excellent......Both record labels are clean with just normal traces of light spindle travel in centres.
INNER SLEEVE..... Excellent-.......Poly-lined inner with ' Plastic Bags Can Be Dangerous' print. Clean with just a couple of small nicks in the centre.
Not a mint/excellent graded album but still a very playable example of a classic LP.
