Description
Led Zeppelin’s fourth (and some would say best) album, catalogue No. 2401012 on the Atlantic Red/Plum label. An SUPERLATIVE example of this original 1971 UK FIRST PRESSING. This has the famous ‘Pecko Duck’ and ‘Porky’ etchings in the run off grooves on each side and there is also the CORRECT ‘Misty Mountain HOP’ spelling on the label of side two. This is actually far rarer then the incorrect 'TOP' mis spelling. As with all these early Zeppelin pressings the power they got into those grooves is astonishing ! This COMPLETELY DISTORTION FREE copy has a tremendous power and presence that surges out of the speakers and (very pleasantly) kicks you in the aural senses !! Bonzo’s drums are always a revelation and here it feels like you’re right there with him when He’s pounding out ‘Four Sticks’ and ‘When The Levee Breaks’. The detail and clarity of the quieter passages in ‘Stairway’ and ‘The Battle Of Evermore’ are wonderful !! The vinyl is in almost COMPLETELY UNMARKED PRISTINE condition with a MIRROR LIKE SHEEN !! I can see only one faint hairline on side one, which absolutely does not affect playback. There are NO CLICKS OR POPS throughout the whole record, just some very faint surface crackle audible in a very few quiet sections. When was the last time you heard the quiet intro to 'Stairway To Heaven' with barely any background noise ?! The vinyl has to grade at least as NEAR MINT !! The sleeve is in VG condition. It has a tear to the back and front but only little wear to the edges. The spine is excellent. The soft card inner sleeve is also in fine order apart from a 1cm split to the bottom. Lastly, the labels. Again the colours are as vibrant as they were in 71’. There are minimal spindle marks and no wear to the centre hole. A RARE and FANTASTIC example of an awesome record by an awesome band captured at the height of their powers !!
