CONDITION
VINYL : Any half-decent pressing of this classic is a pretty good find as it seldom turns up these days and gee… this one is thankfully heaps better than that.Glossy throughout and pretty hard to fault. One small mark on Side 1 and a small scuff on Side 2 which result in a faint pop only are the only blemishes of note other than a little background noise here and there in the quieter parts. Overall it tracks along sweetly both sides and appears sparingly played. Rated EX which is more than acceptable for this rarity.
Labels ~ Both labels are clean.
JACKET ~ Most copies of this record I’ve come across ( which is not that many lately ) generally sees the cover a magnet for soil-marks and ring-wear of varying degrees. Fortunately that is not the case here and this jacket would most definitely rank amongst the better examples you could hope to find. No writing, creases, marks or splits and the spine is intact. A previous owners name is penned in neatly on the back cover otherwise very difficuly to fault at all.
DESCRIPTION
A very impressive pressing of this classic Aussie Surf Soundtrack featuring some very rare / progressive acid-rock tracks from legendary outfit “ Tamam Shud ” ( incorrectly listed as Taman Shud on the label..). This album is getting increasingly difficult to find nowadays and this copy is a real gem for collectors of early Surf / Prog rock.Tamam Shud was one of the most original and innovative Australian groups of the late 60s and early 70s. They played a very important part as pioneers of acid-rock and progressive music. For many years after they split they were something of a cult, and their original recordings were (and still are) very hard to obtain.
This 70’s soundtrack has now become a cult LP of immeasurable standing and still sought after today both for the music and classic surf picture inner cover featuring that famous Michael Peterson cut-back…

….Pure hippie music ...it’s sand, surf and serious cultural and social undertones. It’s the original soundtrack to the Australian surfing film Morning Of The Earth. Australian pop music icon Brian Cadd has some of his best cuts on this soundtrack, "Sure Feels Good", "Making It On Your Own" and "Come With Me".G. Wayne Thomas's title song "Morning Of The Earth" epitomizes everything about the era; peace, happiness and good times. Tamam Shud's prog tracks lay down a great ocean-background soundscape. One of the best cuts here is surely the timeless "Simple Ben" by John. J Francis. If this song was written and performed by Bob Dylan, Donavon or even John Lennon it would be one of the most recognizable tracks ever, the lyrics say it all. "Open Up Your Heart" is right up there with any of the classic hits of the early seventies with its beautiful peace n' love message....simply a classic album...
