Description

An original very 1st press of HOTH on UK Atlantic. Matrix A2/B2 - very 1st cut. Well worth seeking out the early copies as this title was released only a matter of months before the Oil Crisis royally screwed up the vinyl market. The early copies are pressed on solid heavy-duty vinyl. Note how there's no perimeter text in the upper half of the labels and no sign of the Warners logo - indicative of 1st issue. Stamped 'RL STERLING'. The vinyl comes housed in an original matt 1st issue cover. We also have the original high quality textured inner sleeve 'printed in England'. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing heavy or troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. A well preserved original copy - and you'll really be needing that on HOTH because there are at least a couple of very fussy numbers. MOST copies do not play No QTR & Rain Song clean. But I'm pleased to report this copy has only seen relatively light use and they are playing pretty clean. There was a few isolated crackles in Rain and a couple of isolated ticks. In 'No QTR' just some faint 'presence static' occasionally in the very quietest moments. But it plays better than the average copy - and pleasingly clean. By and large a super player with not all that much to find fault with.. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex-) Due to the lack of lamination this title often exhibits a bit of surface wear. I'm pleased to report that this example has managed to avoid most of said surface wear. It's not perfect - there's some extremely slight handling at the top of the rear - but overall very impressive. Worth mentioning too that the surfaces feel clean and smooth. The interior is immaculate - no issues. Edge wear is mostly light, but just a bit more pronounced on the bottom edge. In fact it is just starting to wear through for one inch at the bottom opening edge [I have tape repaired internally to secure]. The openings are nice and sharp. The spine is 100% intact - with barely a whiff of light fade. The spine exhibits hardly any wear which is very unusual. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Just a touch of ageing creeping in at the extremities. No splits.
