Description

An original Orange & Green copy of Zep 1 on the Atlantic label from Q1'72. Matrix A1/B & . Please note that these "transitional copies" are interesting as they come immediately after the demise of the red & plum label in Q4 1971. But some of them even have "technically" the same audio on them with the same matrix and etchings. Essentially, if you're someone who'd really like to get close to that Red & Plum audio magic without shelling out a fortune - this is effectively  a cheaper route to the same audio. Note how the labels do not show any 'Warners' logo in the perimeter text and the text does not enter the northern hemisphere of the label. This is effectively one of the very 1st orange and green copies to roll off the press. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original MacNeill cover with pinched spine. Also included is the original generic white inner sleeve with blue writing 'made in England'. So, 100% genuine an 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has clearly only seen very light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of very light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Super audio with excellent power to render Zep's energy faithfully, but also with the poise to deliver the low-key sections and slow builds clean. Interference is very minor and infrequent. I really couldn't make out much at all. Just a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated per side. A storming rendition and one that would nigh on impossible to improve upon.
Cover (Ex+) In fantastic condition and doesn't look far off of new. Beautifully shiny front with not a whiff of ageing - very very impressive. All I can make out are a couple of light thumbnail creases, but the rest of the cover is perfectly flat and looking like new. The corners are in great condition and there's pretty much no edge wear at all with sharp openings. The rear looks nigh on perfect with no creasing at all. The only thing I can spot is slight laminate lift at the spines edge [practically obligatory on this title]. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. FINAL UPGRADE.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. One side split has been neatly taped up.
