Description

An original Q1 1972 Atlantic press of Zep 1. Real minty Red/Plum copies are gonna set you back muchas $$$. But if you were prepared to look just a week beyond the red&plum copies...you'd find these VERY 1st green and orange copies have exactly the same audio!. Surely not>? Seriously - exactly the same. If you look in the deadwax on these earliest green and orange copies you'll spot the DUAL matrix of the Red&Plum and the next cataloguing for the Green & Orange era. Matrix A1/B4 - exactly the same as a 1971 Xmas Red&Plummer. Well worth hunting these down you will get top quality audio at a fraction of the price of 1st pressings from 18 months earlier. Note the labels do not have any perimeter text in the upper sector - and there's no Warners logo. Heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover with pinched spine and generic company inner. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. GUARANTEED to smoke anything you put up against it...practically perfect. Red & Plum Full mix [both sides] - needs to be heard to be believed.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen lightest use. Super lustre and still has waste wax showing! Under close inspection I could only make a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. Fully tested at a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Clean intros and inbetweens super clarity. You're not far from those original masters in reality - some great audio. Excellent energy, but some finesse in those quieter moments. Intro to Dazed & Confused....super clean. Hardly any sign of background. Intro to 'Babe I'm Gonne Leave You ' - practically perfect on this very fussy number. A couple of crackles in that organ opening to side 2 - but one of the best openings I've ever has the pleasure to witness...A couple of isolated and minor ticks late in 'IGLYB'. I mean it is literally acing it from the audio perspective. Highly recommended. You need to hear it! One of the best renditions I've ever witnessed.<<<<
Cover (Ex) Very very clean front and surfaces are shiny and exhibit no ageing. Small crease top right corner. Perfect rigidity and looks absolutely stunning. The rear is pretty much perfect too. Hardly any edge wear spine fully intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies totally flat. Wowzer!
Inner (Vg+) Some ageing. No splits!
