Description
LED ZEPPELIN II with UPSIDE DOWN inner gatefold cover!
UK pressing: Atlantic 588198
This copy has an ULTRA RARE mispress! The outer and inner gatefold cover have been printed upside down to each other! Open the front cover and you need to turn it 180 degrees! In addition, the unlaminated gatefold cover, normally worn and quite shabby is in EXCELLENT condition, remarkably clean for nearly 50 years old! The spine still looks proud and clear. There is of course some minor ringwear and a few age related creases in the card cover but overall this is probably the best condition I have seen an original 1969/70 Led Zep 2 cover in since they were new!
The LP itself is also in EXCELLENT condition, lovely clean looking vinyl and labels with very minor superficial marks. On Playback the audio is loud and clear with very occasional clicks. Conservatively I would grade this as VG+ but it will give you excellent sonic playback. The labels also have some variations too. Side 1, track 3 is listed as ‘Killing Floor’ rather than ‘The Lemon Song’. This, I believe was as a result of litigation by ‘Howlin’ Wolf (Chester Burnett) to gain credit for this track. Also on side 2,‘Baldwin’ is given as co-writer for ‘Heartbreaker’ and ‘Moby Dick’ compared to‘Jones’ on other pressings. Comes with a generic poly lined inner.
A fantastic example of a very unusual Led Zep 2 cover with a great sounding LP. No reserve and low start bid!
Thanks for looking and check out LED ZEP ‘Mothership’ 4 LP box set also for sale.
