Description
Here is a truly remarkable UK copy of Marianne Faithfull's debut LP, Come My Way, on mono Decca (LK 4688) from 1965. This amazing timewarp copy looks and plays as almost as though it was manufactured yesterday! The gorgeous single sleeve has the most perfectly clean unlaminated rear panel - just have a look at my photos. And the beautiful disc contained within plays with absurd clarity, which may not only be due to its fantastic condition but also due to the fact that it is the earliest possible pressing produced with 1 - B/1 - B* mother stampers, denoting it comes from the very first batch of 300 to have left the factory. In detail, both grooved red Decca labels are near perfect, with just two or three of the lightest spindle traces discernible when viewed under harsh halogen lighting. There is absolutely no wear around the spindle hole while both sides of the vinyl look unblemished when critically examined under light. It is very obvious that this disc has only ever been played two or three times at most. This first press disc with 1A/1A matrices plays with remarkable vibrancy and clarity together with a rare silence between tracks though please bear in mind the inevitability of the occasional sibilance in the vocals which is a well documented production matter relating to all copies of this LP. The front laminated single sleeve is a rare near flawless treasure with only the tiniest little crease for the perfectionist to note - and what a treat to find a copy with such an unblemished, unsoiled rear panel. In all this extraordinary package is a must for any Marianne Faithfull fan. Good luck if you are bidding.
