Description
True First Press of the Beatles "Meet the Beatles." No publishing credits on any song titles. No producer credits on back cover or the label.
The very first issues were printed fast in February 1964. No one knew much about the Beatles, and Capitol Records were in a competition war with Vee Jay Records, who already released "Introducing the Beatles" the month before.
The Beatles were using ASCAP and BMI, but nobody which songs had which publishing rights. And no one knew who George Martin was, as the Beatles record producer had little Rock n Roll music background.
All this changed on the label after the Beatles toured the USA that same month. All second variants of "Meet the Beatles" include publishing rights after each song on the record. And all other prints from 1965 onwards had producer credits on the record back sleeve.
Also the original inner sleeve was blue with the usual Capitol Records advertisements. First press inner sleeves will have no Beatles Records advertisements.
