Description

This is the highly sought after Miles Davis Jazz Classic "Kind of Blue" released in 1959. Considered by many to be the best ever Jazz LP. The great artists heard on this gem in addition to the leader Miles Davis (trumpet) are: Julian "Cannonball" Adderley (alto sax), John Coletrane (alto sax), Wyn Kelly (piano only on "Freddie the Freeloader"), Bill Evans (piano on all other tracks), Paul Chambers (bass) and James Cobb (drums). Bill Evans also wrote the liner notes.

This is an early version of the album and reflects a mis-spelling of Julian Adderley's last name (as Adderly) on both the front and back covers of the jacket (outer sleeve). Also the jacket and side 2 of the vinyl label are inconsistent in that the jacket back cover indicates "Flamenco Sketches" is track 1 and "All Blues" is track 2 while the vinyl label on Side 2 indicates "All Blues" is track 1 and "Flamenco Sketches" is track 2. For collectors concerned as to the dead wax info it is noted that on Side 1 it reads: XSM47326-1AA and Side 2 reads XSM47327-1BB.

The vinyl is clean and shiny with crisp labels on each side. Spindle marks do show on Side 2 but none are noted on Side 1. The center hole is snug. Both sides of the vinyl reflect light scratches with more noted on Side 2 than Side 1. The vinyl on both sides plays through without skips or repeats however some surface noise and a few ticks can be heard on each side (mostly slower passages) and more noticed from Side 2. The vinyl has been cleaned but not professionally and has been test played on a lower end record player.

This vinyl is rated VG to VG+ using Goldmine standards. The Jacket (outer sleeve) is in very nice overall condition with out seam splits or added writings of any kind.  The front cover does have some wear and a wrinkle about 3-4" long to the left of Miles cheek. Corners are softened along edge where record inserts into jacket. Printing on side seam is fully legible with a hint of cracking (no splits). The back cover is in very nice condition with no added writings or other defects noted. Overall this jacket is rated a strong VG+.  Included is a very nice Columbia blue striped inner sleeve (same vintage as album) with no splits and only slight tear at top edge keeping this inner sleeve from rating as NM. A new re-sealable clear poly outer protective sleeve is included to help keep this gem for another 55+ years.

This album will be packaged in bubble wrap with vinyl separated from jacket and all shipped in heavy duty record mailer. U.S. Buyers are limited to ship only via USPS Priority Mail. International buyers MUST use eBay's Global Shipping Program (Does not ship to PO Boxes except those in Canada). Please ensure that destination country is in program, address is not a PO Box and shipping cost is OK including any import fees prior to bidding/purchasing. Thank you.
