Description
Mosaic MR5-118: The Complete Blue Note Recordings of Herbie Nichols (1955-1956). This long out-of-print five (5) LP set collected together all the recordings made by Herbie Nichols for Blue Note with the sponsorship of Alfred Lion. Sidemen are Al McKibbon or Teddy Kotick on bass, Art Blakey or Max Roach on drums. Includes the 29 original compositions and one standard recorded in five sessions. Unfortunately, Nichols died six years later, only vaguely aware of the interest these recordings had evoked in the world, particularly outside the USA. Also contained in the box is the usual high quality booklet including a full discography and high-resolution photographs. The condition of the discs is "as new" or NM. The box itself is in similar condition apart from some slight rubbing at the middle of the top edge. Rubbing extends about four centimeters. This is not a split. In my experience Mosaic doesn’t pack these box sets very well so about half of them arrive slightly damaged by the Post Office gorillas. We will call the box NM-. I have included a close up photo of the one and only significant flaw that this set has in the event that it concerns you. Write if you have specific questions. I am a collector, not a dealer.
