Description

At the dawn of the Vinyl LP, manufacturers, looking for ways to market this new product, hit on the idea of the 10-inch LP to accompany the more familiar 12-inch format. The thinking was that folks with cabinet shelves configured for the then-current 10-inch 78s would be more likely to buy and become familiar with the new product. After years of so-so sales, the 10-inchers were basically gone from the marketplace by 1953. As a result, many are quite scarce, and it is my pleasure to offer a small group in a number of different genres.
This pair represents some history. These are the first and third LPs to be issued on the Tico label, by George Goldner, who would later be known for the Rama, Gee, Gone, End, Roulette, Red Bird and Blue Cat labels, among others. Sixteen great Mambos by one of the giants of Latin music. records are VG+ and covers a strong VG. Original Tico 100 and 102, Selections are: A Los Muchachos de Belen, No Cuentes Conmigo, Joe Lustig Mambo, Donde Estabes Tu, Desert Dance, Yambu, Al Arrebato, Besame la Bembita, Mambo Gee Gee, La Renta, Earthquake, Maina Go!, Pop'n Mambo, La Rumba no se Acabo, El Mambo, El Mambo Hop.
