The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

Morrissey - 'Jack The Ripper' UK Promo 7" - 1993

This rare and limited promotional single was issued in 1993 to radio stations to promote the 'Beethoven Was Deaf' album. This 7" appears for sale less frequently than its CD counterpart, and both share the terrific sleeve artwork, featuring Morrissey and bassist Gary Day, which is unique to this promotional release; this is therefore the only place to find the sleeve artwork in 7" form. The record has two live tracks: 'Jack The Ripper' on the A-side and 'Sister I'm A Poet' on the reverse, both recorded at the Paris Zenith. 'Jack The Ripper' became very popular at live appearances despite not being released as a single in its own right. The record label on the 'B-Side' has an ununsual manufacturing defect whereby the label has split apart when being pressed onto the vinyl, although this is outside of the playing area and therefore does not affect playback.The vinyl and labels are in excellent condition, with only very light superficial surface marks on the glossy vinyl in a few places. Approximately half of the label has been 'split apart' during pressing on the B-side, which is a fairly uncommon manufacturing defect which results in a 'shattered' look to the label which nonetheless does not affect the playing of the record. The outer sleeve is somewhere between very good and excellent in condition, with some mild-to-moderate 'rubbing' along the bottom edge in places and some mild-to-moderate 'ringwear', also near the bottom edge. There are no rips or tears, and no seam-splitting and no writing but the reverse of the sleeve has a 'rippled' appearance and there is a very faint 'waterline' stain which is hard to see but indicates that the sleeve must have got wet at some point. The sleeve is still pretty presentable despite this faint marking on the reverse, and looks somewhat more prominent in the photo than in reality. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
