Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 UK albums that I have collected over a period of more than 45 years! 1st UK pressing of Neil Young's 1970 After The Gold Rush album  on the Reprise labels   This album is complete with the original 1st issue unlaminatred cover, picture card typerecord sleeve and lyric inner!! The audio is truly stunning through out! The audio is graded at least Excellent Plus to very Near  Mint in my opinion!  No loud constant clicks or pops!

After the Gold Rush is the third studio album by Canadian musician Neil Young.





Released in September 1970 on Reprise Records, it is one of four high-profile albums released by each member of folk rock collective Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young in the wake of their chart-topping 1970 album Déjà Vu.





Gold Rush consists mainly of country folk music, along with the rocking "Southern Man", inspired by the Dean Stockwell-Herb Bermann screenplay After the Gold Rush.




After the Gold Rush peaked at number eight on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart; the two singles taken from the album, "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" and "When You Dance I Can Really Love", made it to number 33 and number 93 respectively on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite a mixed initial reaction, it has since appeared on a number of "greatest albums" lists.

Initial sessions were conducted with backing band Crazy Horse at Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles amid a short winter 1970 tour that included a well-received engagement with Steve Miller and Miles Davis at the Fillmore East.




Despite the deteriorating health of rhythm guitarist Danny Whitten, the sessions yielded a smattering of released tracks, including "I Believe In You," "Oh, Lonesome Me," "Birds" (issued as a B-side) and "When You Dance I Can Really Love". Most of the album was recorded at a makeshift basement studio in Young's Topanga Canyon home during the spring with Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young bassist Greg Reeves, drummer Ralph Molina of Crazy Horse, and burgeoning eighteen-year-old musical prodigy Nils Lofgren of the Washington, DC-based band Grin on piano.




The incorporation of Lofgren was a characteristically idiosyncratic decision by Young, as he had not played keyboards on a regular basis prior to the sessions. Along with Jack Nitzsche, he would join an augmented Crazy Horse sans Young before enjoying his own group and solo cult success alternating with a 25-year membership in Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band.








The Young biography Shakey claims Young was intentionally trying to combine Crazy Horse and CSNY on this release, with members of the former band appearing alongside Stephen Stills (who contributed backing vocals to "Only Love Can Break Your Heart") and Reeves. The cover art is a solarized image of Young, walking past New York University School of Law, passing an old woman. The picture was taken by photographer Joel Bernstein and was reportedly out of focus. It was because of this he decided to mask the blurred face by solarizing the image.







 The photo is cropped, the original image includes Young's friend and occasional collaborator Graham Nash of CSNY.

The Vinyl
On initial visual inspection the vinyl looks absolutely superb, Just like it has just come from vthe shop in my opinion, and I can't see or feel any scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops at all! Any marks that could possibly be seen would be light whypsy surface scuffs and sleeve removal type only.. ,  This lays perfectly flat on the turntable and are free from any warping. (Note! I have double checked this) The vinyl looks superb, still retaining its original glossy sheen from new.  (no) deep needle scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks/ticks or pops at all!

The Audio Quality
I have played the vinyl prior to listing on a top system at very loud volume! The audio is superbe cristal clear and very vibrant throughout! Top audio seperation on all frequencies only heard like this on early original 1st pressings!  Importantly there were no loud constant clicks/ticks, pops or any jumps truly awesome and very rare for a 1st pressing. The audio is graded at very Near as Mint in my opinion!

PLEASE NOTE! I always add this disclaimer! I have played this album prior to listing as usual and have given my honest opinion on the audio quality. Please remember this is a 41 years old original vinyl (not a reissue) Please allow for the odd interference/static/crackle/tick but importantly nothing consistant through out the audio! Please remember  that this would have been originally played on a system that is 41 years old!
All indications i.e. that this vinyl has (not) been overplayed and in fact looks barely ever played in my personal opinion, at least no more than a handful of times in my opinion and the audio quality superbe on all frequencies.
 
The labels
This features the "Reprise" labels. These are superbe I can't see any spider marks at all on the labels, (even when angled to the light) and little if (no) spindle ware! This vinyl unplayed in my personal opinion!

The Record Sleeve
This is the original plain white paper sleeve, non poly lined and patented. No splits or tears.   The vinyl is now always stored seperately from the sleeve.

The cover
The original 1st issue MacNeil Press Ltd England. un-laminated  cover is absolutely superbe!  seen in decent very near mint condition like this one. There are (no) edge splits or tears.   The spine is lovely and  square   A truly superbe example rarely seen like this.!  No real nasty creases or in deed any real nasty imperfections. Any imperfections or indents are very minor and are not noticed unless looked for in my opinion. Must be at least Excellent Plus to near as mint in my opinion rarely ever seen like this after 46 years!

The Insert
This is complete with the original picture lyric insert like new condition. Correct catalogue number. Rarely seen like this!
